5. ClipboardAI App Data

Activation Codes

When you activate a license in the app, an activation code is processed by our server to verify its validity. This happens only once when you activate the license in the app.

Anonymous Usage Analytics

The ClipboardAI app can collect anonymous usage statistics to help us understand how the product is used and improve it. This feature is disabled by default.

We collect the following anonymous events:

  • Onboarding started
  • Prompt runs: token count (input/output), duration, and model used
  • API key saved: provider (e.g., OpenAI, OpenRouter)

For each event, we also record the platform (Mac/Windows) and app version.

Important: This data is completely anonymous. We do not collect any text, prompts, API keys, user-generated content, or anything that could identify you. No personal data is transmitted. These are purely statistical events to help us improve the product.

You can enable usage analytics at any time in the app's Settings. We encourage users to enable analytics as it helps us make ClipboardAI better for everyone.

The collection of anonymous usage statistics is based on Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR. We have a legitimate interest in understanding how our product is used to improve it.
